Fig and Gorgonzola Crostini

This recipe uses:

D'Italiano® Thick Slice Bread

Original or 100% Whole Wheat

Makes 12 appetizers


4 small fresh or dried figs
2 tbsp (30 ml) olive oil
1 1 tbsp (15 ml) balsamic vinegar
  salt and freshly ground pepper
3 slices D'Italiano® Thick Slice Bread, Original or 100% Whole Wheat, toasted
1/4 cup (50 ml) crumbled Gorgonzola cheese chopped fresh parsley


Trim tough stem from figs. Slice each fig lengthwise into 3 slices and place in shallow dish. Drizzle with oil and vinegar and season with salt and pepper. Let stand for at least 5 minutes or for up to a day. Cut each toasted bread slice into 4 triangles. Place on baking sheet. Just before serving, top each crostini with slice of fig, reserving oil and vinegar. Sprinkle each with cheese. Broil for 1 to 2 minutes or until cheese melts. Drizzle with reserved oil and vinegar and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Serve immediately.
