Italian Style Pork on a Bun

This recipe uses:

D'Italiano® Sausage Buns

Original or 100% Whole Wheat

Makes 4 servings.


2 tbsp (30 ml) Dijon mustard
2 tsp (10 ml) olive oil
1 tbsp (15 ml) chopped fresh rosemary
1 tbsp (15 ml) chopped fresh thyme
1/2 tsp (2 ml) each salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 pork tenderloin (about 1 lb/500 g)
3 D’Italiano® Sausage Buns, Original or 100% Whole Wheat
4 slices red onion
2 roasted sweet peppers, cut into strips
1/4 cup (50 ml) garlic mayonnaise or creamy caesar dressing
  Arugula and tomato slices (optional)


Combine first 6 ingredients. Spread some over pork, reserving a little for basting while grilling. grill meat for 25 to 30 minutes over medium heat, turning and basting with mustard-herb mixture. Allow to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing thinly. grill buns if desired. Place pork slices, onion, grilled pepper strips, lettuce and tomato (if using) and a little garlic mayonnaise on each bun and serve.

* Roasted Garlic Mayonnaise: Roast 1 head garlic [slice off garlic head and wrap in foil; bake at 425°F (220°C) for 40 minutes], cool then squeeze out pulp, mash and combine with ¼ cup (50 mL) mayonnaise.
