Italian Turkey Pesto Burger

D'Italiano® Crustini Buns

Original or 100% Whole Wheat

Makes 4 servings


4 D’Italiano® Crustini Buns
1 1/2 lb (750 g) Coarsely ground turkey
2 Tbsp (30 mL) Minced sun-dried tomatoes
2 tsp (10 mL) Dijon mustard
½ tsp (2.5 mL) Salt
½ tsp (2.5 mL) Freshly ground black pepper
1 Tbsp (15 mL) Chopped fresh oregano
2 Tbsp (30 mL) Basil pesto
2 Heirloom tomatoes, sliced
4.5 oz (125 g) Sliced fresh buffalo mozzarella
2 cups (500 mL) Baby arugula


  1. Mix the turkey with the sun dried tomatoes, mustard, salt, pepper and oregano. Divide into four, pressing each burger into a 1" thick patty.
  2. Heat the grill to medium high. Grill the burgers for about 3 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through.
  3. For toasty D’Italiano® Crustini buns, place on the grill, cut sides down, for about a minute until gently toasted and warm.
  4. To put your burger together, top each toasted D’Italiano® Crustini bun with a juicy burger, a slather of pesto, some ripe tomato slices, a slice of fresh mozzarella and a handful of baby arugula and whatever else you like.
  5. Top with lids and enjoy!
