Grilled Cheese Classico

This recipe uses:

D'Italiano® Thick Slice Bread

Original or 100% WW Bread

Makes 4 servings.


8 slices D’Italiano® Original or 100% Whole Wheat Thick Slice Bread
1/4 cup (50 ml) prepared pesto
16 slices prosciutto ham
16 strips bottled roasted red pepper
8 slices Provolone cheese
2 tbsp (30 ml) olive oil


Spread about 1/2 tbsp (7 ml) pesto on one side of each bread slice. Top 4 slices of bread with 2 slices prosciutto, 2 strips roasted red pepper and 1 slice cheese. Top with remaining bread slices, pesto facing down. Brush outside of each sandwich with olive oil. grill in a non-stick skillet over medium heat for about 2 minutes per side or until lightly browned, cut in half and serve.
