Muffuletta Poco

D'Italiano® Sesame Seed

Makes 4 servings.


1/2 cup (125 ml) coarsely chopped sweet onion
1/2 cup (125 ml) stuffed green olives
2 tbsp (30 ml) olive oil
1 tsp (5 ml) dried basil
1/2 tsp (2 ml) dried oregano
2 tsp (10 ml) red wine vinegar
  freshly ground pepper
8 (250 g) thinly sliced Italian cold cuts (eg. Salami, Capocollo, Mortadella)
8 (250 g) sliced Italian cheeses (eg. Provolone, Mozzarella)
8 slices D’Italiano® Sesame Seed Bread


Place onion, olives, olive oil, seasonings and vinegar in food processor or blender and process until finely chopped. Spread about 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive mixture on one side of each plain or toasted bread slice. Layer even amounts of meats and cheeses on 4 bread slices. Top with second slice of bread.

Tip: Olive “salad” can be made ahead and refrigerated.
