Ingredients:
8 slices of D'Italiano Original or 100% whole wheat
1 egg
1 teaspoon water
1 lb extra lean ground beef
1/2 cup sweet mini peppers chopped
1/2 cup white onion chopped
2 cloves garlic crushed
1/2 cup mushrooms choppped
1 cup tomato sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon dried italian seasoning
1/2 cup mozzarella
1/4 cup parmesan
Directions:
Lightly grease a large muffin pan with olive oil. Trim the edges of the bread and mold the slices into the muffin cups. Mix the egg and 1 teaspoon of water, brush the egg mixter onto the molded bread slices. Bake for 10 minutes at 400F.
Fry ground beef until no longer pink, drain the meat if needed. Add peppers, onions, galic, mushrooms, salt, pepper and italian seasoning. Cook over medium heat until veggies are tender, add tomato sauce. Continue cooking for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat. Fill each of the muffin cups wtith the meat and veggie mixture, top with mozzarella and sprinkle with parmesan. Bake for 8 minutes at 400F. Enjoy!
