Ingredients:
6 D'Italiano Sausage Buns
250 grams ground beef
250 grams ground pork
125 ml bread crumbs
1 egg
375 ml ginger ale (diet or regular, 1 can)
375 ml tomato ketchup
6 slices provolone cheese
Directions:
(Makes 6 subs)
Combine beef, pork, bread crumbs and eggs in bowl, mix well. Form into meatballs. Allow 4 - 5 meatballs per sandwich. Brown meatballs in frying pan.
In pot, combine ginger ale and ketchup, stir well, add meatballs and bring to a boil. Reduce heat immediately and simmer for 60 - 90 minutes.
Preheat oven to 450 (F). Open D'Italiano buns, and place cut side down on cookie sheet in oven for 10 minutes to toast. Remove from oven and turn right side up. Place 4 - 5 meatballs on one side, ladle extra sauce on top. Place cheese on other side - return to oven for five minutes.
Remove from oven, close sandwiches, cut in half and serve with cole slaw.
