Ingredients:
12 slices of D'taliano thick slice white
3/4 cup prepared lemon pie filling
1 cup evaporated milk
2 eggs
1 tbsp flour
1 cup powdered sugar
*vegetable oil for deep frying
OPTIONAL: Vanilla icecream and fresh raspberries
Directions:
1. Lay out D'Italiano bread slices.
2. Gently make loonie size indents in center of each slice of bread
3. Place tablespoon of lemon filling in center of 6 slices of bread and top with the remaining 6 slices. You now have 6 sandwiches
4. Using a biscut cutter, press down in center of each sandwich to form a lemon filled donut. The cutter will seam the edges.
5. Place donuts in freezer.
6. Heat oil in deep fryer to 375 degreees.
7. Mix together milk, egg and flour. This makes you dipping batter
8. Remove donuts from freezer, dip in milk batter and drop into oil.
9. Fry 15 seconds per side or until golden brown. Remove from oil and drain on papertowel.
10. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with vanilla icecream and frash raspberries. Serve immediately.
