Ingredients:
For the kebabs:
1 lb. ground beef
1 egg
1 slice D'Italiano bread mashed into 3 tbsps milk
salt and pepper to taste
1 jalapeno finely minced
2 garlic cloves finely minced
1 walnut sized fresh ginger finely minced
1 tsp. ground coriander
1 tsp. ground allspice
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. finely crushed mint leaves
a bunch of finely chopped fresh coriander
For the spread:
a bunch of finely chopped fresh coriander
1/4 cup olive oil
1 jalapeno
1 tsp. mint herb
salt to taste
Topping:
Sliced red bell peppers
Directions:
For the kebabs:
- Beat the egg and add meat, mashed bread, all herbs and spices. Mix well.
- Divide mixture to form oblong kebabs the length of sliced bread
- Cook kebabs on griddle (or broil in oven)
- Slice kebabs lengthwise
For the spread:
Blend all ingredients in food processor (or blender) to form a paste.
Assemble sandwich
- lightly toast 2 slices of D'Italiano bread
- spread coriander paste onto one slice of bread
- arrange sliced kebabs onto slice of bread
- top kebabs with crisp stir-fried red peppers
- spread coriander paste onto inner top slice.
- press sandwich in griddle
